The prevalence of social media has made sharing easy. So when you have a message of value to share, make sure to get it out.
We at insight180 have been working with Valerie Androutsopoulos of Vangel Paper, a secure data destruction and recycling company, doing some rebranding and design work. While working with Valerie it’s hard to ignore her passion and love for her job. Valerie truly believes in her work, and that is clear in her every action and interaction with her clients. Working with Valerie is refreshing because her passion stands out.
Recently Valerie shared with us an incident that happened at work – one of her clients inadvertently placed a live file is the bin for secure shredding. Valerie told us how she and the client went back and found the file…within minutes! Some in Valerie’s position might have either given the client a hard time or told him that they could no longer retrieve the paper, but not Valerie. She did everything she could to help her client while also ensuring that all the files remained secure at all times.
As Valerie shared this story with us, we were astounded at her tone of voice. She was not annoyed or frustrated. Instead, we could hear her excitement in being able to help her client. She loves what she does, particularly when she can be of service to her clients, and has all the patience in the world because she knows the value of her work. It’s the same excitement she shares when her company holds a local church or scout troop’s Community Shred Day. For Valerie, it’s a valuable service they provide as well as the opportunity to educate.
Valerie married into the recycling and shredding industry – her husband Angelos’ family owns a recycling company in Greece – and quickly learned the ins and outs of the business. When Valerie and Angelos moved to America they started their own company. Valerie quickly learned what set them apart and the value they provided, and she made it her mission to share this knowledge with others. Valerie explains that recycling and shredding is “such a simple thing to do, and it can make a huge impact.” Valerie is committed to her job and enthusiastic about her work, and this shines through in her every action.
Keeping passion for your work is important. Understanding the value of your work and really believing in what you do will enable you to have a positive outlook – no matter what happens in your workday. In Vangel’s case, their knowledge and enthusiasm about the services they provide is the core of their brand.
At insight180 we love working with clients who inspire us and others. Vangel is one of those clients. Seeing Valerie’s passion and zest is a good reminder for us to think about why we love our jobs, and reminds us to keep our passion alive, too. We feel that this is an important message – one worth sharing, and so we did. (Feel free to continue spreading the message by using the share buttons on the side of this post :)!) And remember, if you have a message of value share it via social media channels!
