We thought it would be fun to share some of the news in the design world (stuff we love to look at). Here’s a “round-up” of sorts to cover what’s iconic, what’s trending and what’s happening in corporate identity.
- A wonderful tribute to graphic designer, Saul Bass from Buzzfeed,
- some large name companies who are changing their visual branding,
- some current logo design trends, and
- a particularly snarky infographic “how-to” on creating a hipster logo—the truth hurts!
Tribute to designer Saul Bass
Did you know these 23 logos were all designed by the same man? Saul Bass was a graphic design star who specialized in corporate logos, movie posters, and title sequences from the 1950s until his death in 1996. Although some may not have heard of him, you will know his work which includes:
The United Airlines logo
The AT&T logo

Honey Maid opts for a new logo and packaging.
Did you know that in the 1800s graham crackers were originally sold by independent bakeries—many of which joined to form the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) in 1898? Nabisco acquired Pacific Coast Biscuit Company in 1903 along with all of its biscuit trademarks, including Honey Maid. National biscuit company introduced the Sugar Honey Maid Grahams brand to the western U.S. in 1931 and the eastern U.S. in 1948. In 1965, Nabisco Sugar Honey Grahams were renamed Honey Maid Graham Crackers in the eastern U.S. and then everywhere else in 1976.” Source: underconsideration.com

This week Yahoo! announced that their new logo will be revealed in September.
In the meantime, this is a different idea. Yahoo! is presenting a new logo every day for 30 days.
“Over the past year, there’s been a renewed sense of purpose and progress at Yahoo!, and we want everything we do to reflect this spirit of innovation. While the company is rapidly evolving, our logo — the essence of our brand — should too.”

has been making its way around the internet.
