It’s logo design round-up time again, when we highlight design updates to some of the brands you may or may not know. I’m pretty sure you know all of these! Check out 7-eleven currently under construction, some speculative Washington football team logos and a popular morning news/entertainment show logo. Interesting round-up this month.
New 7-11 Concept Store and Logo
Spotted in NYC: a 7-eleven concept store. Not only does the store display a new logo design, it also has some exciting new branding elements.
Although commenters argue that the rebrand seems a bit generic and trendy, I see it as a welcome change from their outdated stripes that usually don their walls. Although it still seems like they can’t exactly decide who they are. They might do better if they could bring some of the outdoor type elements inside the store as well. But it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
The Washington Red What?
It seems to be in the news in waves, and during the last couple of weeks, we’ve heard many reporting on, objecting to or having another opinion about the name and logo of the Washington Redskins. Although Washington Redskins team owner Dan Snyder has vowed to never abandon the name, a contest sponsored by 99designs showed new name and logo concepts, 1,878 designs from 347 designers, should he ever change his mind.
The suggested team names ranged from The Griffins, Renegades, Warriors and Redtails. Some entries can be seen above. See the full gallery on Washingtonpost.com.
The Today Show
One of the most popular morning shows, The Today Show, recently received a logo makeover. Although subtle, the type is stronger and simplifying the graphic in the image above the type will allow it to be adapted easily for different “departments” of the show and change effects in an active medium.
Here is a sample of how the logo may be used in animation:
